BUILD 30/30: Making a Freelance Services Page

Posted Friday, December 5, 2025 by Sri. Tagged JOURNAL

The final MONTH OF BUILDING CHALLENGE post is a first draft of a freelance services page. I'll post a summary of all 30 days on December 12.

About the Title Picture: I spent way too long making this header image, which hides the personal contact information underneath since I don't want just anyone on the Internet to add it to their spam list!Screenshot of Affinity Designer, showing the text DSRI SEAH and their four freelance service offeringsScreenshot of Affinity Designer, showing the text DSRI SEAH and their four freelance service offerings (full size image)

The last day of my 30 day build challenge has arrived! For today's sharepiece I've created the first draft of Freelance Services page, which is going to be very much on my mind for the next couple of months as I look for work.

This is the header image on the new dsriseah.com/card landing page, which is printed on my latest personal card designThe design of the card landing page resembles a blueprint on top of which is a rendering of the business card at an angle on the left, with the text from the reverse side of the card's four service offerings rendered in large type to the rightThe design of the card landing page resembles a blueprint on top of which is a rendering of the business card at an angle on the left, with the text from the reverse side of the card's four service offerings rendered in large type to the right (full size image)

This is based on the Build Day 25: Personal Card Design. The final version of the card now has a link pointing to dsriseah.com/card.

In other news, the business card stock samplers I ordered should be arriving next week, so I'll be able to pick some luxurious paper and have them produced. In a couple of weeks, I will have business cards that I can hand out to trusted contactsI'll make a different card with just the social media and website link later for random people I meet who might just be farming info for their marketing...

So far, I've put two main things on this page:

1. Four areas of arguable competence

  • Human-Centered Thinking - Treating people as individuals, not machines to be optimized.

  • Personal Productivity - Using experiments to discover what works and what is meaningful.

  • Information Design - Applying visual psychology to create outstanding clarity.

  • Interactive Development - Programming digital devices that support what people are thinking about.

Making a Freelance Services Page

This copy isn't great, but it is enough to capture the gist of what I'm thinking for now. At least I know these are the things I want to offer. Turning them into )compelling and understandable offerings is going to be the writing challenge.

2. Project Examples

...

I will be revising this page to get it right, but at least now my bases are covered when I get the cards printed.

BUILD CHALLENGE COMMENTARY

I did 5 days a week over 7-ish weeks, picking something to do every day (and taking breaks as needed when Life demanded attention). Now that it's over, I feel a sense of satisfaction for having stuck with it, and I feel more confident that I can maintain a pace on future projects.

I'll write a review of the entire Month of Building for the December 12 Groundhog Day Resolutions Report, which is coming up soon!

I also finally tried using Linear App today. Self-described as a "purpose-built tool for planning and building products", it seems like a issue-based project tracker for a company. I'm using the free plan to kick the tires, and it seems promising. I think I can use this to track the various initiatives I outlined on my Activity Bingo Board pretty easily.

For fun, I created a team called Freelancers, Inc and invited people from the experimental Freelancer hangout in DS|CAFE to play with me. On a side note, the freelancer space is is now in its third week, and I can see it going for a while longer!

THAT CONCLUDES THE MONTH OF BUILDING

Thanks for following along! I'll next turn to preparing for the December 12 Groundhog Day Resolutions Report, concluding YEAR 18 of this long-running personal experiment. I learned quite a lot this year, and for once it feels like everything went as well as it could have. Talk to y'all soon!
