Skip Day! I tagged along with my buddy Sid to visit The Brickyard Collaborative, a makerspace in Lynn. Roast beefs were also had!

I had the opportunity to accompany my friend Sid to The Brickyard Collaborative makerspace in Lynn, MA on Boston's North Shore for a photo shoot, so today is a skip day!

While waiting for Sid's contact, we learned a bit more about the Brickyard Collaborative, talking to one of the small business owners in the space who restores high-end kitchen appliances. It's a pretty big space right in downtown Lynn on Western Ave, housing several artisans and fabricators with various shared facilities like a laser engraver, 3d printers, woodworking equipment, and so forth (all listed on their website). They had something called a risograph which is like a hybrid photocopier combined with an offset press combined with screen printing, using real inks for multi-color production runs! Very cool! Apparently popular for printing zines for runs of 100 to 10,000.

Sid spent the day shooting B-roll for an upcoming projectI'm deliberately being vague on details, as this visit was not one of my own project initiatives. I'll happily update this post later when the info is available!, with me hanging out and basking in the discussion of the intersection of art, ambition, and revamping a small business while surrounded by the tools of various trades. It's been quite a while since I've been in the company of such people, finding it super inspiring as I push to restart my own business; I had been feeling quite alone, so seeing someone who was really pushing hard on their own was the restorative energy I needed!

We wrapped up the day trip pretty late, so went to try a place called Crazy Buzzy's Roast Beeft & Seafood of Lynn that someone recommended. I'm a fan of regional foods, and being in the North Shore demands that one tries as many roast beefsHere's a good summary of what makes a North Shore roast beef sandwich on sandwichtribunal.com as one can. So far, I've only had them from a couple of places in the area, Nick's Famous Roast Beef in Beverly, MA and now Crazy Buzzy's in Lynn.

This one was very good, I thought, nicely rare with an ample stack of thin-cut roast beef and oozing with the classic combination of BBQ sauce, mayonnaise, and melted American This combination is called a "Three Way", but I'm not native enough to make the call if this is the best. I liked it and would totally have another one. Everyone on the North Shore has their favorite place, and there are a LOT of them!

In other news, I made good progress on the Word Counting Calendar code over the weekend, so look forward to that tomorrow!
