What is IndieWeb Club Nashua?
The IndieWeb Club celebrate when the Internet is personal and filled with surprises. It’s for people who like see the Internet as a medium of personal expression in the greater Nashua New Hampshire area.
We want to take the Internet back into our own hands and have fun again!
We do not want our experiences online to be gatekept by corporate algorithms designed to exploit our connected lives for their profit over our wellbeing. There are tools are available for us to use! We are willing to learn, build, and share!
Who is the IndieWeb Club For?
The Club primary audience are writers, artists, indie makers, designers, bloggers, hobbyists, curators, culture hounds who want to share things on the Internet. Also, members may be interested in:
- how to have control of their home on the internet through self-hosting
- are curious how to create online and offline communities around their interests
- are experimenting with web technology and content management strategies.
- miss the 1990s-2000s when the Internet was a wild place full of surprises
This is a new group, so initially we will start as a “show-and-tell” gathering for people who are making their own websites independently of big centralized social web platform like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, or want to move away from it. We’ll make a mini-directory of people and their websites and establish a meeting schedule.
We’ll see where it goes as we get to know each other!
