Talking to a lawyer acquaintance about how a worker is valued by a law firm.
Two metrics they use to determine the value of a particular worker is:
- client origination - would the client have come to the firm without you
- matter origination - could the client's need been handled without you
Then there are:
- hours billed - how much they billed (accounts receivable)
- hours realized - how much they were actually paid (money in the bank, disputes could change this)
